Terms of Use

Effective October 8, 2026

Please read these terms before you use Poppy Scholars. They are written to be readable, and they are a real agreement.

Who we are and what this covers

These terms are the agreement between you and Shiro Solutions LLC, a California limited liability company, which operates Poppy Scholars (“we”, “us”), for the website at poppyscholars.com, including its courses, free previews, AI grading, teacher review and the pages that link here. By using the site, creating an account or buying anything, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Questions about any of this: [email protected].

Who may use the site

Accounts are for adults (18 or older) and for students 13 and older with a parent or guardian’s permission. A child under 13 may use the site only through a parent or guardian’s account, with the parent or guardian present or in charge. If you are a parent or guardian, you are responsible for how the student uses the account.

Your account

You sign in with your email address. We send a one-time link, so there is no password. Keep your email account secure, because anyone who can open that link can open your account.

An account is for one person. An account can be signed in on at most two devices at a time; a newer sign-in signs out the oldest one. Do not share, sell or give away your access. A homeschool plan is for one student. We may suspend or close an account that is shared or misused.

Free preview

Visitors who are not signed in can open a small number of lessons. A free account can open five lessons across the whole site. Lessons you have opened stay available. We may change the size of the free preview at any time.

Courses, plans and what you are buying

Courses are self-paced online lessons, worked examples, practice problems and writing tasks. Each purchase gives you access to one course for the period shown at checkout (for example 30 days, 90 days, 6 months, 12 months or 2 years). Access ends when the period ends. Buying the same course again adds time to what you have left. Plans do not renew automatically, and we will not charge you again unless you buy again.

A family bundle is several courses bought in one payment at a discount (20 percent off the combined price when you choose five or more courses). Each course in a bundle is its own access, for the 12 months or 2 years you chose, and starts when you pay. A bundle is for one student. Teacher review follows the same rule as buying the course alone: homeschool courses include it only if you chose the plan with teacher review, and AP courses do not.

Prices are shown in US dollars at checkout before you pay. Applicable taxes may be added. We may change prices at any time; a change never affects a purchase you have already made.

Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe may act as the seller of record for your purchase, and its name may appear on your receipt. We never see or store your full card number.

AI grading

Some courses (mainly AP) offer AI grading of written responses. Each prompt includes one free grading per account. More gradings can be bought for $1 each, and paid gradings do not expire.

AI grading is automated. It can be wrong, it can miss things, and it is not an official grade, a prediction of an exam score or a substitute for a teacher. Use it as practice feedback. When you grade a response, the text of that response is sent to our AI provider to produce the feedback.

Teacher review

Homeschool plans labeled “With teacher review” include teacher review of written work; plans labeled “Materials only” do not. If you hold an active Materials-only plan for a course, you can upgrade it by buying a plan with teacher review for that course at the review price minus the Materials-only price for the same length; the new time is added to what you have left. Each writing task includes one free review per account. A teacher reads what you send and replies by email in their own words. We do not promise a particular turnaround time or that a review will change a grade. Do not send anything you do not want a teacher to read.

What we do not promise

Courses teach the material described in the course pages. Completing a course does not by itself guarantee a grade, a test score, high school or college credit, recognition of a diploma, or college admission. Families are responsible for meeting their own state’s homeschool requirements and for checking what a college or program requires.

Our homeschool and high school courses cover the full academic course load for a high school diploma; students add their own art and PE classes to complete it. Families are responsible for confirming what their state or school requires.

Our AP® courses are built around the AP exam. Students who want to show colleges what they know should take the AP exam in the subject; a score is independent proof of knowledge. They are not on the University of California’s approved (a-g) list and are not accredited.

AP® is a registered trademark of the College Board, which is not affiliated with and does not endorse this site. Other names belong to their owners.

We work to keep the content accurate, but mistakes can happen. Tell us if you find one and we will correct it.

Acceptable use

Please do not:

We may limit, suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. If we close an account for misuse, we are not required to refund unused time.

Our content and your work

The lessons, problems, explanations, recaps, design and software on this site belong to us or are used with permission. You may use them for your own learning, and a parent or guardian may use them for their own student. You may not copy or share them beyond that. Quoted historical and legal texts that are in the public domain remain in the public domain.

You keep ownership of what you write. You give us permission to process it (including sending it to our service providers) only to grade it, route it to a teacher, send you a receipt, keep a record that you used the feature, and keep the service secure.

Refunds

Our refund rules are on the Refunds page and are part of these terms.

Availability and changes

We try to keep the site running, but it may be unavailable at times for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. We may change, add or remove features and courses. If we remove a course you have paid for before your access ends, we will offer a refund of the unused time.

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant we will say so on the site. Using the site after a change means you accept it.

Disclaimers and limits on our liability

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, lost data or lost opportunities. Our total liability to you for any claim about the site will not be more than the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you, and nothing here limits rights you have by law.

Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. If we cannot sort out a disagreement by talking first, either of us may bring it in the courts located in that state, unless the law of your home state requires otherwise.
